Stripes and Leather

I remember when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer. I thought that I would never see myself the same way again. The funny thing is I don’t, I had lost my hair a few weeks into treatment and I immediately began losing weight. ย I was stressed all the time, I thought about death all the time, and I worried all the time. It took about a year to move on and I imagine it will take ย a lifetime to adjust to all the changes.

Truth is one day you wake up and you realize that your still here. All your friends will move on and
the out pour of attention from your initial diagnosis to the end of treatment will slowly dissipate. In the beginning of treatment everyone wants to know how they can help. When you complete treatment, they assume your fine because you look healthier. It’s all one big misconception, I’ve watched women with terminal cancer look like they never had the disease to begin with so the saying ” don’t judge a book by it’s cover” is the best cliche phrase to describe breast cancer. ย Did you know that decades later this disease can return? It’s horrible to think that after poisonous treatments like chemo and radiation, the treatment process would have to be repeated. It’s the kind of ย reality that no one should ever have to face especially since it’s likely to return as stage IV terminal cancer.

The word “terminal” is so chilling, just imagine there never being an end to treatment. I’m sure you’ve all seen adults and children in your news feed on Facebook holding signs that read ” Today is my last chemo” in celebration of the end of treatment or at least one part of treatment. Can you imagine there never being an end? Can you imagine doing chemo and radiation for as long as your body is able to hold up? Once you become terminal, that is the plan. People living with metastatic breast cancer will go from one treatment to another until it either stops working or you stop working, meaning death.

How does anyone live a “normal” life knowing that death is right around the corner because there is no cure. There is so much emphasis placed on building awareness but so little goes towards actual research to find a cure! It’s infuriating to see how much money so many non profits raise each year but there are still hundreds of men and women dying from the disease everyday. If you really want to make a difference support organizations like Metavior! It’s one of the only organizations that puts the majority of your money towards research to find an actual cure.

Just imagine how many lives we could save!
As always thanks for stopping by I hope you love the pictures xoxo!

A perfect fit…

Hi loves! I wanted to share my latest dress buy. I’ve been looking to expand my dress selection because I have a difficult time finding the right fit. I found this dress at my local Marshalls and fell in love. I love the fit, it hugs in all the right places and the print is so pretty.
I wore it for my love and I know he’ll love it  *wink

Casual Pinstripes…

Hi lovies, Today’s look is all about casual chic. I love jeans, can’t wear them that often but when I find a pair that works well with my curves, I rocked them to death. I’ve had these jeans for several years, not sure where I bought them at but they fit so well and it looks like I need to invest in more high waist jeans. I’m a true pear shaped gal, all bottom and very little up top, so high waist helps to tuck in that waist and accentuate those curves on the bottom. The jeans are a relax fit and they stretch so they are really comfortable. I found this pinstripe purple shirt at Marshalls and these shoes were a clearance buy from last year. I tied the whole look together with my thrifted denim, embroidered belt from several years ago.
How do you rock your favorite blues? What style and cut works best for you?

A Little Sunshine…

Hi guys! I’m back ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’ve gotten back to my little exercise routine so I haven’t been posting quite as much. I love to walk in the mornings and after work for several miles. The fresh air and cool breeze before the sun comes up and just after it sets works wonders for me.  I rarely show my legs, which are one of my not so fave body parts, they are so big (to me at least) :)) I’m getting lots of wear out of my yellow blazer lately. I found the little black dress for $15 at TJMaxx and thought it was fun and flirty, shows a bit more leg action than I usually expose but I love it. The shoes are from Shoe Dazzle and the clutch is H&M, my usual shopping hot spots.
I hope you all love the pictures and enjoy what’s left of the work week!

Give Me Sun…Give Me Life…

Hi Guys..Can you tell that I’m a warm weather baby *giggles. I live for hot and sunny days…. Well today finally warmed up enough for me to throw on a dress and sandals. It’s been so cold here (CT) that I’ve outdone myself in the pants department. I’m sooo sick of layers and layers of clothing and I want to pack away ALL my winter pieces but it’s warm one day and freezing the next rrrrrrrrr!!! My good friend Michelle took these pictures, I heart her, I’m totally getting a new one this weekend, good photography is a must when your trying to showcase clothing. I’m so excited for tomorrow, heading into the city (NYC) for  the

Fuerza Bruta show, cant wait ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hope you all enjoy the weekend and the pictures!!!

I rarely show my toes ๐Ÿ˜‰ they look like pigs in a blanket LOL!

Flag Day…

Hello beauties! I can sure use a vacation. After this recent move, I’m feeling a little burned out and in serious need of tropical hot weather. It’s times like this that make me wish I lived on my island of Jamaica. Waking up to beautiful weather, wonderful food, and clear blue waters. I’ve been searching the web for days in search of flight and hotel deals so that I can take a quick trip just to lay in the sun.
This outfit reminds me of the flag, it wasn’t intentional but after piecing it together, I figured why not ๐Ÿ˜‰ I was searching for a nice yellow blazer for months. I found this one on clearance $32 at NY & Company. The green pants were also on sale for $20 at NY&Company, they came in several colors. I have a hard time finding great fitting dress pants so I grabbed 3 colors of the same style. When I tried on the pants and blazer, I thought to myself that all I needed was black and BAM!…the “human flag” came to mind..LOL! I think it works, what do you think?

Spring Is Here…Well Not Quite…

Hello everyone!! Happy Spring, just ignore the snow in the background. To say that I’ve been busy, is a true understatement. I’m moving twice this year and while I’m excited about entering that next chapter of my life, I’m also a total basket case. I absolutely hate moving, well not necessarily moving but packing for sure! You never know how much stuff you have until you have to consolidate it into little boxes.  I must admit that I’m a complete procrastinator and I have to do things well ahead of time because I’ve learned that waiting til the last minute only gets more costly so I’ve been packing for weeks. It’s not that I have that much stuff, it’s just that I need breaks and don’t feel like it most days LOL!
I thought I’d take some pictures of my welcoming spring ootd, nothing crazy, just some off-white dress pants by Jennifer Lopez for Kohls and a $8 clearance cardigan that I also snagged at Kohls on an early bird special. I hope that I can get settled in soon and get back to a regular (whatever that means) post schedule. Kiss, Kiss lovies and enjoy the what’s left of the week.

Floral Shirt, Blazer, & Skinnies…

It’s almost FRIDAY! I’m all kinds of happy. I’m headed to Brooklyn this weekend and I hope I can squeeze in a little shopping because they always have such original and funky stuff at the boutiques in Brooklyn. It will be nice to see some different retailers than what I’m use to in CT.  Today’s outfit is a fave color combination of mine, mint green and pink. I purchased each piece at different times and it’s always so nice when an outfit comes together that you otherwise didn’t plan.
The blazer is H&M on sale for $20, the shirt Old Navy also on sale $17, and the skinnies are Marshalls on the clearance rack for $20. I feel like it’s necessary to remind you all that you don’t have to spend a fortune to look nice. I hope you all enjoy the pictures and leave some feedback, I love to read what you think of each outfit ๐Ÿ˜‰

Neon Shirt & Peplum Skirt…

Hi lovies! Happy Monday, well what’s left of it at least. I was soooo happy it didn’t drag too much ๐Ÿ˜‰ Well I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Did any of you watch the Oscars? Who was your best dressed pick? Mine was hands down Charlize Theron. I loved the short hair cut and that dress by Dior was so beautiful on her. I thought many of the other ladies looked fabulous as well ie, Kelly Roland, if you didn’t already know it, I’m a fan of Ms. Roland, she’s a stunning beauty!

I purchased this shirt from JCPenny for $10, it was on clearance and I just had to have it. I’ve seen this color everywhere this season and I wanted to include it in my closet. The skirt was $15 at my local TJMaxx another of my fave shops, I enjoy this retailer because I feel like there regular price is many retailers sale price. I can’t believe were almost in March, so much to do and so little time…ugh!! Enjoy the pictures and thanks as always for visiting!

My Makeup for the day!

Muah!!

Neon Yellow Skinnies & Stripe Cardigan…

Hey Guys..okay I promise this is the last colored skinnies denim look that I’ll be doing for now ๐Ÿ˜‰ I told you I’m in love with the multiple colors available this season.  This color combination says more spring to me and I can’t help to continue with the bright colors because it’s so in for the season.
My $10 H&M cardigan is easily going to transition well into the spring for the nautical look and I can’t wait to change things up and play around with more prints. I’ve been trying to incorporate prints into my wardrobe. I love prints but sometimes they can be difficult to pull off and depending on your body type, certain prints just are not flattering. I’m so happy tomorrow is Friday, I’m excited about karaoke fun with friends this weekend….Enjoy loves!
